  • Test – The best time for testing your swimming pool water is at dusk at least 4 hours after swimmers have left the pool.
  • Adjust – Residual chlorine level of 1.0-3.0 ppm – pH range of 7.4-7.6 – alkalinity range from 80-120 ppm.
  • Clean – Empty skimmer baskets – clean tile – skim floating debris – brush walls and use a pool vacuum to clean floors.
  • Kit – Use a winterizing kit unique to your pool. Pool chemical winterizing kits help to prevent algae outbreaks and protect your pool throughout the off season.
  • Lower – Lower the water level in your pool. It should be below the returns and skimmers.
  • Electricity – Make sure the pool pump or circulation equipment is turned off and that power supplies are disconnected
